Right, i'm looking to get back into biking again after long break and need a new bike. I'll be doing xc and have finally shortlisted to the following...Kona Caldera 07, Specialized Rockhopper Comp Disc, and maybe the GT Avalanche Expert. I know they're all pretty much similar spec, and all similar price, so just looking for peoples personal opinions on which to get. Links below (if i've done it right!) Cheers

I'd probably get the kona, just because I like the look of the spec better, but there is definitely things I'd upgrade on all 3.

Id take the specialized, good bikes, great reviews and prefer the spec.
The last 2006 Kona Cindercone I had the paint flaked off if you looked at it wrong which is a pain when you pay a lot of cash and want to keep something looking nice.Ibis Mojo SL-r0 -
I'd go with the Rockhopper. Good fork and brakes. The GT has top spec gears but the Tora fork doesn't compare to the Recon. Its a nice riding bike too. BB is a bit low so if you are doing a lot of technical riding it can be a pain.

I'd go with the Kona, but thats cause I have one and think they are great!
Or the Spesh. I've never really liked the feel of GTs, but they are all good bikes for the money.
Go to Evans and have a good ride of all three, you can get as much advice as people will give you, but at the end of the day its the bike that you feel rides the best and can control well that is probably going to be the one, regardless to what people think.....DaZeD aNd CoNfUsEd....0 -
Yeah I'm going to Evans tonight to have a look (and probably buy). Went on Saturday too and must admit, didnt like the GT as when i sat on it my arms were too stretched. So its 2-2 for Kona and Specialized. Only problem is i cant try the spesh as that Evans store doesnt have any in stock. We'll see.0
