Not been a good week, i'm afraid

very simply put, i went out for an urban bike ride last Sunday on my trials bike (see my pics - the silver Base TA26), i crashed, ended up in ER - then the ICU, where i stayed all week until i was released to a regular ward on Thursday and discharged on Friday

believe it or not, i ran into a curb!

fucking sad eh? i thought that there was a wheelchair-access ramp on this one curb and - for once - was going to just ride up it instead of bunnyhopping up as i normally do. turns out the ramp wasn't there and i only noticed at the very last split second. i hit the curb full throttle and went over the front; the bike folded under me; i landed on the sidewalk with my shoulder first and then my abdomen landed across the bars/stem.

the stem went so deep that it ripped my spleen and flooded my abdomen with blood.

after nearly passing out on the drive home (and that WOULD have probably killed me!) my wife drove me to the local ER where i got hooked up to a multitude of machines/IV etc (my heart rate dropped below 40 bpm at one point). i then had to have CT scans etc. THEN the surgeon tells me about the internal bleeding!

when i'm able to ride again, it'll be on my trusty Giant AC

it's been a shitty week - one that i'm not willing to repeat anytime soon...or any time if i can help it!

i was TOTALLY nekkid for several days...then...pants!

thanks a lot to all of y'all for your kind words over the last few days. it was a sh!tty way to end up in hospital, but they did take VERY good care of me.

as for the guts, well the ol' belly is feeling better by the day. i'm on Percocet for the pain (great drug - makes yer limbs feel like lead!) and i hope to be back at my mech's bench on Saturday

i'm breaking the Base for parts but probably won't be selling to the UK due to the huge mail costs involved. some of the parts have already been transfered to the Giant!
