Bleeding a Hope Mono Mini

Hey,
I'm thinking about bleeding my hope mono mini. I have DOT 5.1 Non-silicone Base Brake fluid from Halfords ready to put in. I got the brake 2nd hand and i assume it hasnt been bled before. If there is DOT 4 fluid in how wud i get it out and put DOT 5 in?
I have read a step by step guide on how to do this in Mbuk ('06 Preview - 192) but it isnt entirely clear. Can you mix DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 (It says on the back on the container for the fluid i have that you can.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

yes you can. 5.1 4 and 3 are all mixable.
just bleed the brakes and do not worry.

just use the dot 5.1 to flush out the existing fluid.
bleeding them is pretty simple. may be worth getting some sort of hosing. i use washer jet hose from halfords (only a couple of quid for enough to wrap my car with!)to put over the bleed nipple to canth the fluid.
fill the reservoir with the new 5.1, unto the bleed nipple on the caliper 1/4 of a turn, press the lever, close the bleed nipple. repeat. make sure the reservoir doesnt empty mind or you'll put air in there!!

Thanks very much. I just needed to confirm. Also, can you re-use the fluid that you have removed? Is there any reason not to use it again? (unless it's contaminated...)

Why/how does it get contaminated?

DOT brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air and deteriourstes.

Why not just bleed it all and use synthetic brake fluid, it won't damage the paint and it won't absorb as much moisture.
BTW the hight the DOT number the more moisture the "normal" fluid will absorb.0
