Hamilton has his first pole position, faster than Alonso by 0.4s, Heidfeld 3rd, Raikannon 4th, Massa 5th.

Should be a very good race. Will be interesting to see if Heidfeld can stay in front of the Ferrari's.

Alonso receives a 10s penalty for entering the pits during safety car conditions. Kubica's had a big crash.

Well done Hamilton, also well done to Sato, very entertaining watching him overtake Alonso!

Kubica's accident must have caused some brown stains both on the marshals and his own overalls.

EDIT: Kubica has a broken leg.

I think its pretty unlikely for a driver to die in a crash these days, modern F1 cars are so safe.

Update on Kubica: The broken leg was just a rumor and it turns out he is completely unhurt. He momentarily passed out on the first collision with the wall but thats it.

It's highly unlikely for a driver to die in an F1 car these days. A few years ago Burti's car went into the tyre wall at Spa at about 180mph. He survived that with only a broken leg (i think). Two or three years ago Ralf Schumacher went backwards into a wall at 180mph at Indionapolis and only had a relatively minor spine injury.
