Ok, I have managed to get my tyre choice down to a pair of High Rollers. My problem is what ply to go with, I do mainly XC type riding, all round riding but no jumpingog downhill.

Maxpro 60a if you ride on the road a fair bit, Tho the Highroller is really a Dh tyre, Is there nothing in the XC range that would suit better?

    havent fallen off,
    im just having a rest

Just go with the 60a unless you think you'll need very high amounts of grip.

    EDIT: Oh and single ply.

Sometimes it overheats. You have to make sure it's in a ventilated place all the time.

John, I've been recomended High Rollers by people on here, and I had a look on Maxxis website and they have the High Roller under the XC section.

Don't worry, are there any better tyres out there for the type of riding I do? Or if you could recomend me a cheapish pair of summer tyres and a cheapish pair of winter tyres instead.

I use the High Rollers in their 2.5 guise, some of the best tyres out there IMO. I used them over the winter too, a little squirmy at times but usually held fast [:)]

High Rollers have low rolling resistance hence the name.

Get them in 2.1 width, single ply, 60a compound. They can be picked up cheaper if you don't mind a 70a compound but I'd go for the more expensive Maxxpro ones, its worth it IMO.

Well, had a look on CRC and they only sell 70a, and wiggle have a useless stock of Maxxis.

I'm also struggling to find the right high roller to buy.

Does anyone know if the single ply is folding or wire bead?

    The single ply is wire.

Rob A, you want the High Roller XC, which is indeed only 70a.

I bought a 2.35 super tacky Maxxis High Roller at my local Halfords three weeks ago - I know this isn't the tyre you want, but i commute daily 3-4 miles and only half a mile is off-road. It grips like corr blimey to a fluffy blanket, but rolling resistance is a bit on the high side.

Having said that, i get a great work out on a short ride and i can climb vertical walls now like spiderman [:D]
