Ok so I've got my rim hub and spokes here, and have built a few 3 cross wheels before using the Sheldon Brown Guide, but these spokes are the length for a 4 cross pattern, what do I need to do differently when I'm building?

cross the spokes over 4 other spokes rather than 3. on a 3 pattern you do 2 then 1. on a 4 pattern you do 3 then 1.

Ok its all gone tits up.
I start with the 9 trailing spokes, no problems, do I put in the spokes on the opposite side the same as i would with a 3 cross or is that where it's going wrong?
Right now every spoke on the disc side is poking out of the rim too far, as though the spokes too long.
