Why do Surround amp have to be such fun to wire up

it has on screen menus that mean another cable between amp and TV. and what is the difference between component and composite connections?
well the speakers dont arrive untill next week so i have some time to try and understand it all.

composite > video transmitted through a single cable (RCA, scart, s-video etc)
component > video signal split into 3 seperate carriers. this is ftw, although I'm under the impression that HDMI is the superior format now.

i have HDMI from DVD to TV and coax digi to AV amp. but i need some thing to the TV to read on screen menu. componet does not carry it. so i think i will run a temp S-vid cable for that.

no HDMI inputs. but i did not want any. bought it purely for sound.
T744 trying to undstand the English used in the manual is abit like some posts on this here forum.

yep. so i have digi coax to one of number 4 rear conectors for the sound input. (well thats all i want it for) now for the on screen menu i belive running a S-vide cable from 2 will allow me to see the menu.
as i sais befor DVD - TV has own contection this is purly for sound and reading the menus. S-vid may be removed after set up.

cheers for confiming what i was thinking.
what was getting me to think and wonder was the seperate 5.1 conections with all the different chanels. and then all the other connection options.

Technically composite video is just the yellow RCA plug. And then the two red and white audio RCA plugs. S-Video is generally better than composite, though.
As for whether HDMI is better, it depends. It can be. Although a bit lame, it depends on the source and the TV. Both are good!
