just a thought
would ajusting the B screw on my shimano deore derailleur help stop or reduce the chain slap its getting unbearable and im sure its louder than it used to be

no it wont. adjusting the b screw on your derallieur, i think may put the chain line out, and make shifting worse, but im not 100% sure, as i've been running sram for a while now, and sram have H and L, and i think that may be it.

Best thing to do, is get a chainstay protector like this, and it will quieten down the sound of chain slap.

the B screw should be adjusted so that the top jockey wheel is in the correct position. read park tools. is the chain the correct length? have you got a chain sty protector fitted?

what is the mech and bike?

Using the B screw to move the mech away fromt he cassette does reduce chain slap to an extent but you sacrifice shifting performance. The jocky wheel should be ~6mm from the cassette when set up properly, your best bet is the lizard skin, or an old inner tube wrapped around the chainstay and then cable tied in place
