the top cap bolt on my bmx doesn't unscrew, it turns, but just doesnt come out, is this because the thread is knackerd? and how the f*ck do i get the dang thing out?? its 1 of the ones you can put your brake cable through not just a normal allen key one iff that helps

sounds like the thread is gone, yes, you could try drilling it out - but you need to replace it of course.

iff i do drill it out will the 1 that came free with mbuk fit it? i thought that maybe if you drilled it out it would knacker whatever the bolt screws into?

hmm, im not much of an expert, but you could try screw extractors.

A lot of BMX forks have a starnut welded in.
So drilling it out may not be an option.
However, if you manage to get the bolt out and the threads are knackered you could always run a headlock.

i dont think its welded. it _did_ come out half way then the was it, but i then regretably hit it back in to stop the wobble, and now it doesnt come out atall, i think i may give drilling it a go, so far ive tried moler grips and putting a rod through the bottom of the forks and trying to hammer it out... neither worked[V]

the free one with mbuk would fit put its rubbish, throw it away-you don't want to be using a plastic top cap, you can use the bolt though

nothing wrong with a plastic top cap. it is not like it has a lot to do. many headsets come with plastic topcaps anyway.
