I have titec hellbent xc bars. As i have been riding my grips have moved a bit and now i can see the cutting marks on the bars. What effect will happen if i trim my bars down?

the bars will be shorter which might feel weird but youll get used to it - handling is sharper i think

EDIT:: that was an obvious thing to say. so, handling is increased in sensitivity, i think thats it, might not be so good for jumping/dh.

basically, its like putting your hands closer to the stem, smaller movement gives a large response, wide bars are better for dh, and not so much a problem for xc, but too thin would be uncomfy, shoulder width is usually about right.

Narrow bars are most useful for commuting, so you can fit between trafic easier. If you do cut them down just do a little at a time because you can't stretch them back once they're cut.
