Well the uk has about 7760 miles of coast, but apparently 60% is in scotland and offshore islands. So call it 5000 miles, about 100 miles a day sounds reasonable to be aiming for. So 50 days roughly.

That depends very much if you plan to use a mountain bike and ride along the beach or a road bike along coastal roads.

100 miles a day for 50 days, including climbs of perhaps 300 feet every few miles, and off-road! If anyone other than supermen could do this I would be impressed!0

I can do about 20 miles in 3 hours, but all day everyday i reckon id just about average 30-40 miles a day.
For an uber fit keeno though, id say 100 miles a day is do-able.

You couldn't do it all on beaches because not all of the coastline has a beach.

MBUK James, I reckon, if you wanted, you could get that to 3 days, another 8.33 (recurring), should be do-able... (i am presuming that this is off road)

I wouldn't try on the beaches, pebbles and or sand are not fun to ride on and eat drivetrains (sand does, not pebbles as much)

I doubt very much that 100 miles a day would be feasible.
Are you carrying all your equipment? Tents??
I did a road tour(on a hardtail mtb) round belgium a few years ago. Belgium=flat but the most we were doing was about 70 miles a day. This was mid-summer carrying clothes/tent/some food.
Britain's coastline is not particularly flat in alot of places. Britain's weather is unpredictable and the coast is usually windy; meaning difficult/uncomfortable riding conditions.
Add in extra time for eating and for navigation, I'd say you wouldn't be doing much more than 60 miles a day maximum.
I doubt very much whether you are actually considering this judging by your post but meh...

Anyhow if you're thinking of doing any beach riding, have you tried riding through deep sand? It's not easy.

Not sure about the Uk but the Isle Of Wight would be a nice ride.___________________________________________________________

Yeah...there's a slight difference between cycling around Britain and cycling around the Isle of Wight(wierd, I always thought it was 'White' :S )
...ahd don't even begin to consider cycling the length of Britain's coast-line on the actual beach.

All depends on what terrain though doesn't it...
On the road, you'd do 20 miles in 2 hours or less easily, unless it was really hilly. Some roadies could even do it in less than 1.
But off road, it all depends on the trails.
On dry sand... I'd be impressed with any more than 5 miles an hour!

I'm just back from the north west coast and after seeing it good luck! It will certaintly take you through some wild remote areas.
It looks like it would take years. Even driving to something that was about 5-10 miles by sight took about an hour to wiggle your way round miles of singletrack road.0 -
Hi Matie,
i did a tour of the US on Bike, NYC to LA via up and down the rockies to arizonia then back up to Seattle to cycle down the pacific coast. we did 7000+ miles in 4 month cycling full panniers and quite a bit of off road, mostley on fire roads tho. we had rest days, spent 4 weeks getting back across to fly back from NYC so we spent 6 months there. i would recommend that over Britain. a coast to coast in the states do it San fransico to NYc tho.
