I want to get a different paint job on my bike, does anybody know who might be able to do this? Also what sort of prep work might be needed ie removal of parts etc.

I considered doing this on my only Hardrock sport. Found a place near me that did powder coating, you need to strip everything off if you want a proper job and for god sake don't do it yourself unless you know what your doing! The amount of œ99 halford full sus bikes i've seen going around in silver and gold is heartbreaking

I thought powder coating had to be baked on? What would that do to the frame? would it distort it?

the 2 people i know who have had their frames sprayed got it done by argos cycles/racing whatever it is called

Powder coating is baked on yes, i know people who have had it done without problems. Its much tougher then ordinary paint and it looks the nuts[:)]

If you go to most paint shops/powder coaters/anodizers they usually can take all the paint off for a small fee. It'd be easier that nitromors and sand paper.

Ah sounds like the way to go. Many thanks. All i need to do now is chose the right colour.

Wouldn't want to be you now... color choosing is a biaaaaaaatch!! i went for white when i was choosing, you can get all genuine decals off ebay as well so it looks factory finish when your done

Tell me about it! you get a tiny colour sample thing which dosent give you much indication of the finished article. Mines white already. looks dirty far too quickly!

I really do not like the Mr Chavs who spray their own bike! It 9/10 looks hideous and is very poor quality.
