those who know PS and photo-taking

A fixie photo-set, but the photo's on here all have a certain something that makes them look amazing.

Some are just colour edits, so it's all black and white save the bike and rider, or whatever, but even the others all look really good.

Is this a certaain lense fileter, os so photoshop skills?

I think this: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1075/525 ... 759d_o.jpg might be using some clever blend of white balancing to make the colours stand out more and the greys appear more greyscale

would love to be that good with a camera. had a play with a bloke at works 400quid fujifilm 'semi-pro' quality one for a few days last week. and its brilliant some of the stuff you can make it do and the photos are amazing.

Just wish i had the money to have a proper play myself.

nothing done with PS apart from a few borders added etc. maybe slight changes in the levels.

How can you be so sure? If they did edit the pictures in some way, they probably weren't intending to make changes obvious in every picture.

true, but i know that very little has been done i.e. The photographer is bloody good, main changes could be levels, a bit of blur, burning etc. nothing major.

So basically you mean, none of the standard filters?

I'm not sure that means nothing major has been done, just that whoever PS'd it had some idea of what looks good.

I'd looks like colour/saturation/levels have been changed

And in terms of photography, the guy seems to know when to use a narrow focal band, which looks good.

Looks just like the levels have been changed in PS.
As for a decent SLR, not definatly. I've seen people get results like that with compacts, just need to know how to use them.
a DSLR would make them easier though.
