I've had a 2006 Stumpjumper comp for four months now.. but about 2 months into riding it i noticed there was some play between the shock and the bolt that attatches it to the horst link.
Its like the bolt isn't thick enough... but by less than 1mm
(and i've checked and disasembled and nothing looks broken or worn)
I've ignored it untill now, but it can rattle quite a bit; which can be damn annoying....

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?

Any idea whats gone wrong and what i should do?

any help greatly appreciated.
cheers

  • I have a Stumpy FSR pro 2006 and have relpaced the bushes in the shock mounts twice in about 6 months and to be honest they need changing again. If you pick the bike up by the seat you feel a slight knock.

All you have to do is go to the Mojo website or call them to get some replacement bushes. You need to remove the shock, take out the top hats from either end and push the bush out from inside the shock. I use a couple of sockets and a vice. Then simply push the new one in the same way.

    Hope this helps.

i imagine its the shock bushings. my bighit used to have a similar problem (well, it happens with all full sussers) but where the shock bushings closest to the wheel are in the line of fire for mud and water they tend to wear quite quickly.

replace the shock bushings and i'm sure you could bodge together a basic mud guard for the bushing out of a piece of old inner tube etc...
