Which Rear Brake?
Simple Jumper

So, I'm gonna upgrade my Shimano cable disc to a hydraulic one.
Now, these are the brakes I've tried on mate's bikes:
Hope Mono Mini - Lovely lever feel, but he's had too many problems with it.
Hope Mono M4 - Again, lovely lever feel
Avid juicy 7 - Felt horrible, I didn't really like it. Very powerful though.
Hayes HFX9 - Amazing power, not much modulation.
Hayes HFX9 Carbon - My favouite, gorgeous lever feel, lots of power.
Hayes Sole - Crap
Giant MPH - I'd rather have my cable disc thanks.
I mainly ride street and dirt jumps, with some FR thrown in for good measure.
I'm leaning toward the Hayes 9 Carbon as it felt awesome and had a nice 'on off' feel, just how I like it for street. I'm going to the LBS soon to see if they've got any Shimano brakes on bikes that I can try out, to see what they're like.
My budget is around œ50-œ60 so I'm gonna have to go 2nd hand, thats not a problem.
What do you lot think? What shall I go for?

Get the one you like best. Which is the Hayes HFX9 carbon.
You've made the decision already.

budget- hfx 9's, but they are rubbish really. they work ok but i do find they lack power and when something goes wrong they are a nightmare to fix. i'd go for hope m4's the 07 ones. i love them. the levers are great and they just work. did fancy the avid code but i don't like the levers-even though most people do. they are powerfull though. juicys would be good if you like them but i'd have to recoment the m4 hope.
never grow up..... just find a bigger playground!

HFX9's lack power? The one's you tried must have been pretty naff if they lacked power, they tend to be rather powerful, just they are a bit like an on/off switch, however some people like that.

HFX9's are the most powerful brakes i've ever used, although there isn't any inbetween as many people say.
They would be good for street though. Look at Hope Trial discs as well.
not working

Sometimes it overheats. You have to make sure it's in a ventilated place all the time.

The 2007 hopes are a big improvement over 2006. and the only brakes i've not had a problem with.
