titanium brake discs

although they are available,no one seems to use them-is this because of heat transfer problems,noise or because they would need special pads?
also does anyone know what happened to the akabono mmc alloy discs mentioned in press a few years ago?

    Never seen Titanium discs, there are some aluminium alloy discs at posh bikes (http://www.poshbikes.com/product.php?id=255) although they're œ58 each.

    the ti/carbon disks are in the new mbuk
    www.carbon-ti.com œ240 each!! look good but not realy worth it
