Hey guys i'm a newbie here and look forward to using this site! i would also love to put forward my first question... Just bought a Rockhopper pro frame but its sitting at home and need to know the size for the seat post?

I've found a nice 31.6mm? will this definitely not fit? don't know how much room there is in the main post as it obviously tightens up.

while we are in seat clamps/posts, does anyone know what post/clamp size is needed for a 06 GT avalanche (1.0 disc)

No, you can get away with +-0.1mm but you wont be able to fit a 31.6.

What about using s shim and getting a 27.2? is that ok do you think? I found a nice felt seatpost, its carbon fibre wrap which puts me off a bit but its only 190g!

Whatever seatpost it was you wanted, this one is nicer and it's the right size for your frame
