disc brake mounts or mechanical disc for a future hydraulic upgrade.

Its not for me, its for a friend. Hes after something that will be good for street, park and the odd bit of jumping.

I recommended the P-45 to him, which he likes alot but he wants to look around before buying.

Thanks very much

I've been told that sticking anything over 80mm of travel on the P-45 screws up the geometry, plus no disc mounts. I wouldn't get it simply because the two main things I'd want to upgrade are the brakes and forks, and you can have neither.
Apart from that, the P-45 looks like a solid, reliable bike.

BTR - The P-45 is Designed with rigid forks in mind. so its no surprise that sticking suspension forks will screw it up [;)]

For street/park riding, may be worth looking at rim brakes, wether its vee's with some ultra good pads, or some maguras. massive amounts of power.

I'd say go for the 666x frame. seems a pretty good frame [:)]

  • Sounds like this is the best rig to go for...although I'd also suggest taking a look at the 24seven dark angel slacker, the dmr rhythm and the identiti dr jekyll...and the previous suggestion of running maguras is a great idea...if kept in good condition with decent rims then i believe the hs33's to be just as powerful and progressive as any disk brake!

I wouldnt use a Dr jekyll for street/jumping. having owned one for a few years, its designed as a race bike, so it handles well when caning it down singletrack, but the low speed handling isnt brilliant [;)]

I've found HS33's to be better than disc brakes in a lot of cases, they're easy to use, they dont get contaminated, they are simple, light(ish), look great, and perform better than all of the disc brakes i've tried on the bike recently. Only problem with them is their tendancy to pry seatstays apart, and they are pretty harsh on rims.

i thought identiti say p-45 is ok up to 100mm but 80 is best? but that doesnt really matter iff he wants rigid, i would say p-45
