PC Problem..

Well I have a VERY old computer which has had XP put on it by my Dads mate and recently it will just shut down for no reason..
I mean one minute its fine, the next minute a big like blurry screen with lines all over it will appear and will then turn off!
I've had 9 attemps in the last 20 minutes to get it started and at the moment its going rather nice but soon I think its going to go..
Right now its not letting me type smoothly it keeps freezing..

What the feck is wrong with my Ub3r N00bish PC!

    Old hardware + XP = fail.

    Probalby hasn't got enough memory or processor power to support xp - my old pc had 19MB RAM, it struggled to play even AoE!

    Spec list?

    Less than 256mb RAM and probably about 1ghz processor and XP won't run properly.

    Well its all laggy at the moment and I think but am not sure it has a 256mb RAM and thats all I know really.
    I also know that we got it about 6 years ago..So it had Win98 on it..

    Go back to 98 or maybe even 2000 pro if you have the spec for it.

    If it had 98 on it, it's pre-2000.

    Put an old Windows on it, or a modern OS that can do resources management.

    What if I buy a bloody great external harddrive thingy and a bigger RAM?
    It would be a lot quicker then..

    the hardrive wouldnt really make a difference. The RAM would, but tbh its probably cheaper to get a basic modern pc rather than upgrading your old one.

    Doesn't mean it'll run any better... if your computer is fragmented, full of crap etc. it will make a performance difference. In your case it just sounds like your PC simply isn't up to the job.

    get a new pc. nah probs a hard ware problem. try defragmenting the hard drive
