i'm in need of a new car, does anyone here drive a mk1 5 door focus? This is the car i'm looking at. will it be able to fit two bikes in the back with the back seats down?
And does anyone else have any advice? preferable without going estate.

Buy a van! peugeot Expert vans with a 2.5litre HDI turbo engine go like stink! you'll be able to fit a load of bikes in, or sleep in it over night at festivals etc.

you could put 2 more seats in. my mates brother has a van with 3 seats in the front and three seats just behind and can easily fit 6 bikes in0

yep, no probs doing that...just have to take the front wheels off![;)]0

Cheers guys. My keyboard is jamed, so i'm having to use my sisters computer when i can. so expect late replies.

Easy. You can get two bikes in and still leave the right-hand rear seat up, allowing you to get a third person+bike in if you've got a bikerack.

I've got a 98 406 Estate 2.1 TDI (pre HDI) and thats about the ultimate biker friendly car i've found to date. You can pick up a really nice one for œ2500 odd and its mega reliable. Not as quick as a modern diesel but with minimal computer trickery under the bonnet theres far fewer things to go wrong![:D]
doomsday device you say? i suppose i could part with one and still be feared...doomsday device you say? i suppose i could part with one and still be feared...0 -
Mmm, 04 Mondeo est, TDCI 130. (see Allez in my sig)
Swallows bikes whole. 60mpg is nice too.

Ive got a 3door Focus and can easily fit 2 DH rigs in the back, with all gear, still have room left, so you'll manage it easy. Ive also had 3 DH bikes, 3 people and all gear in but that was with 1 bike on a bike rack, and as Alex says you just leave the right hand seat up.

I went to Afan a couple of weeks ago in a focus, three people and three bikes, tents and equipment all inside the car, no bike rack! no way could much more have fitted in though, the car stank of rubber and bikeshop but it was alrite! And like alex said we just left the right hand seat up though, didnt use a bike rack though, we also had all mountain/xc bikes, downhill rigs might be a bit of a push0

you could just fit them in, but you still have to faff around taking the wheels off, surely...it won't just swallow them up whole! not the hatch...
Another vote from me for a van.
