similar to blur 4x?

i plan to get a lightish do-it-all bike (similar to the style, size etc of doddy's blur 4x). i have seen an advert in the new mbuk for a gt idrive 5, would this be up to it if i got a chain device and single ring up front, something like pikes etc?? i dont have a huge budget so the cheaper the better (within reason).

    I dont think the I-drive would be great at it...the Kona Howler, or the Norco 4X would be your best bet for something like the Blur but cheaper.
