Always the optimist!
The new Hope ProII hubs and Mavic XC717 with ACI spokes are now in place-total weight saving over standard wheels 385g. Most of thats from the rear wheel. The front Specialized hub and DT Swiss rim is pretty much on the money-don't bother replacing it. Naked with no disc or cassette, the new wheels were 1733g. Not too shoddy when you consider they were just over œ200.
New tyres Panaracer Razor XC-470g and 468g are a bit heavier than advertised ("Average 450g" on packaging) but they're a lot lighter than the Spec. Fast Track Pro's 547g and 569g.
Standard Quick releases are lighter than Hope set:-(
XT cassette is 260g and HG50 is 358g-big saving!
Expected a bit more from the wheels but there you go.

Ah but you will notice the weight loss a lot more than if you saved that weight from a saddle or stem. The bike will accellerate faster. Nice wheels though.

For weight saving go to posh bikes, Ti carbonitride cassette and carbon fibre chainrings. Save a bucket of weight.

Always remember to pick your Uni according to the local trails or you'll be stuck with nowhere to ride for three years!0 -
What ridiculous advice. There are far better ways to shed weight than bloody carbon chainrings.

All weight loss is good!
First ride on new wheels-WHAT A BLOODY RACKET!!! from the rear Hope Freehub. Makes everyone look at my S-Works tho:-)
Definitely quicker acceleration. Two gears up all round my 'test circuit'.
Front hub has a bit of play in it-is there any adjustment?0
