Which Hydro Disc Set to get ?

Hi
I bought a Marin Hawkhill recently and have been upgrading bits and bobs on it for the last month so i can get it perfect to how i want it. It came with the Hayes Sole disc set with silver levers. I was going to buy the BFL levers as they are black and would match the rest of the bike aswellas being two finger. I have heard that the Hayes sole are crap so would like to get a new disc set instead. I quite like the Avid Juicys but not sure if they are good or not. Basically i want some decent discs that arent too pricey and still have black calipers/levers to match the rest of the bike.
Thanks

Shimano XTs. You can pick up a full set with levers for œ160 or so from CRC or Merlin.

If you've got loads of money, then get the Avid Juicy Ultimates.
Or the 5's, or the 7's or the Carbons.
They're all great but vary in price alot..

XC riding, i currently have a Marin Hawkhill with a few upgrades
Marzocci MZ comps are now Rockshox Recon 351 U-Turns,
Alivio chainset now upgraded to Shimano Deore 27 speed.
Bracer MTB Suspension Seatpost
.Not sure what the differences are between the Avid Juicys, they do look really nice. I wouldnt want to spend more than œ200 on the set but would stretch a tiny bit more if they were really worth it.
Suggestions ?___________________________________________________________

Now, I may be wrong re: Juicys but you have variants:
Juicy 3's: which are OE (can't be bought after market (come on complete bikes) apart from Chain Reaction Cycles perhaps)
Juicy 5's: Slightly better (and more expensive)
Juicy 7's: Better still (and again, more expensive)
Juicy Carbons: Same as Juicy 7's buy with carbon levers etc - dearer still (have them on my bike - see pics)
Juicy Ultimates: tres cool buy tres expensive as well
Look around on t'interweb - you can get good deals from the likes of CRC/Wiggle etc

The juicy 3s are on sale here also:

I haven't had a problem finding them at places other than Chain Reaction cycles.crazy about bikes0 -

Ok Juicy 7s seem to be the best option, Only trouble is that i cant seem to find them in black. the actual lever is silver but i have seen the Avid juicys with full black levers and calipers ( no silver at all ) Only Avids i can find with full black levers are the Avid Code and they seem abit OTT on the price.___________________________________________________________

Ouch they are quite abit more expensive, even the Codes are cheaper and meant to be just as good.___________________________________________________________

OK i will look into the Juicy 3s, Also i have just ordered a Set of the Rockshox Recon 351 U Turns as the ones they had on display looked really nice and didnt have the mounts for v brakes, Am i right in thinking that they werent the correct ones or were the Solo Air ? because all the Recon pictures ive seen have those mounts on which i dont want. If not then How are the Revelation 426 U Turns ?___________________________________________________________

i personally would go for these:

they are around œ70 more than the forks you are looking at, but its worth it. if they are good enough for chris smith, they are good enough for us mere mortals!

Yea i did look at the Pikes but they seem abit OTT for the kind of riding i do, I think the Revelation 426s look like a good choice for me, I will also look at the Avid Juicy 3s unless i get greedy and splash out on the Codes. See how much money i have to spare in a weeks time.___________________________________________________________

what type of riding do you do?

I live near quite a few hills which have good x country and downhill paths on them. My mind is pretty set on the Revelation 426 U-Turns now. Just the brakes i will have to decide about now.___________________________________________________________

like i said earlier you cant go wrong with the juicy 3s. if you go for them, you will probably have some spare cash to get braided hoses. ie goodrige, hel etc.

Ok i found a set on wiggle, the goodridge black ones, they dont list the Juicy 3s on there but im guessing the Juicy 5/7 2005+
Will they make a big difference or mainly just durability ?
Model GMTB108 ?

they will make the brakes feel better, perform better, and yes, they are not likely to split when you eat dust.
if you send wiggle an email they should be able to tell you whether the hoses will fit the juicy 3s. if they dont ask them what ones will...

hope mono m4 07, braided hoses. 203 rotor. ignore the avid hype.
never grow up..... just find a bigger playground!
stinky custom -> http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/1074854/
not so custom stinky->http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/1341407/0 -
Yea i got recommended them first but i dont like the look of them at all, the rotors look ugly and the levers arent black. Ive made my orders now anyway
Avid Juicy 3's 185mm rotor W/Goodridge Hoses
Rockshox Recon 351 U-Turns W/Poploc
Im sure ill find something to upgrade soon anyway, maybe some new hubs and rims
I could use some new decent tyres actually.___________________________________________________________
