It looks like it's inspired by new rave/cassette playa type graphics. The games are happening in East London after all, so maybe it's meant to appeal to the kind of people who head to Hoxton and Shoreditch on a saturday night. I can't imagine that tight pink jeans are the best idea for track and field though.

It seems to be sdomething about government departements, as Britain has some of the best private sector designers in the world, yet thats the most inspiting logo they could manage?
