Rebuilding

I was wandering how often you rebuild your bikes? Ive had my Giant for almost a year now, and am thinking of rebuilding it for the Summer. By rebuild i mean strip the whole thing down, lubricate everything, clean everything re-cable it and get it running like a new bike. Oh and of course replace anything thats worn or is on its way out. Of course normal maintanence takes place, but i mean a full on overhall.

Err, to be honest never, i just replace stuff as the year goes on or if something gives up. I do regular maintenance but apart from that i have never had the bike 100% apart at any one time and i've had the Klein since 1999.0

I have never done it.
I just maintain stuff when it needs doing which isn't great.

I've done it a few times but after a year you probably don't need to go to mad taking the chain off and running it through degreaser doing all the drivetrain and brakes, it depends how much hammer your bikes taken really its really not too hard.

I have all the tools i need, so i normally do it at the beginning and end of every holiday, i don't do enough maintenance in the term so make sure everything is hunky dorey when i get home and before i come back. It is a pain, oh but i don't replace the cables, just lube them, because i use snakes = no maintenance

I do it every 5 months. I think it makes the bike so much smother. Giving it all a grease and if anything needs changing i do that as well. And i red in a mag once that you should change your bearings at least once a year.0

About once a year I do that, also doing general maintenence and replacing parts all the time.

Cool. I think i might as well do it when i have one or two days free. The main thing is that i built the bike myself, so its probably a good idea to make sure that everything is still put together as it was when it was first done, as it wasnt a professional job.

a few days? you should be able to strip most parts off of a bike and rebuild in a few hours [8D]
The bike gets a full strip down and rebuild once a month. or whenever it gets really wet/muddy.

Something round here tastes bad. Could be plain old bad taste.

Hehe practice makes perfect - you're clearly evidence of that! it will take me a few hours to sort me tools out, let alone actually get working on the thing!
