I might be missing something here but it's down to how high you want your front end to be. For DH/FR you might want a higher front end and alot of DHers go for 2" or 2"+ risers.
The width and sweep of risers have more impact on handling in my opinion but I did have to drop down from 2" risers to 1.5" risers on one bike a while ago because I got 05 66RC forks and the front end seemed a bit too high with them. I made the adjustment by having a 0 degree rise stem, 1.5" risers and no spacers under the stem and I haven't gone back to 2" risers on that bike because it feels right as it is.Dave S0 -
thanks for the advise. i am running 03 dj3's on my 06 hardrock the stock bars are bending. so i will probably go for 2 inch .

Sounds like you should change your bars asap.
If you can afford it go for Easton EA70s then bending your bars isn't really something to worry about because they're very strong.Dave S0 -
Yay,
I've got a 2005 Hardrock with 66s (Dont ask me what type of riding i do!!)
I think my frame is fine for a bit of FR.
I have got DMR Wingbars. They seem quite strong. I can't imagine beding them though, no point in splashing out on bars IMO.

You won't be saying that when they snap on landing. You got any idea how much force bars have to take?

Well, i can imagine how much force they take...BUT, surely they're designed to take alot of force, all of them, even XC?
But obviously, if the bars are bending then change them.

He's saying your forks are too long for your frame.

Apparently the Athertons are on Sunline bars & stems for this season.
I wonder if they contributed to Rachael's broken arm?
They should be replaced under warranty after so little use.
