Broken bones and helicopters

Im now 1 riding buddy down. Basicly we were at this dirt jump spot and he tried to clear a tabletop, his back wheelclipped it and when he went down he put his arm out....His wrist has now moved about 4cm out of socket and is nearly poking out of his skin. However he decided to crash in a place with no signal and it took for ages to get help. Because the place we are in is realy bad for acces he had to be airlifted. The big mountain rescue chopper was called but there wasnt room enough for me [:(!]

i got airlifted once. don't remember it though. my dad couldnt go in because he was too heavy, so my mum went. and just ride with imaginary friends like me [^].

Thats what I was thinking.. why did he have to be airlifted if it was only his wrist, surely his legs still worked?

he tried to get up and just collapsed so we didnt want to move him, the ambulance guy said we did the right thing keeping him safe....
the worst thing for him is he will be out all summer, its a very nasty break

Fractured wrists arent that bad though, i once rode home 3 miles after fracturing my wrist, and didnt go to hospital for another 3 days, dont get me wrong, its painfull, but not as painfull as people make out.

I had an accident years ago, and had to walk two miles home with a nail stuck through my big toe. THAT stung.

Walked a mile and a half, up hill, with a fractured tibia and a near-detached-at-the-bone torn cruciate ligament. Tried to walk it off for the next week, thinking it was something minor... this merely extended the time i had to spend in plaster.
