Left over Odds 'n' Sods - let's build a bike

After buying my Marin I have removed a lot of stock components in favour of better kit (not that there was anything wrong with what was on there - on the contrary) so I have XT Crankset, LX FD, LX Shifters, alloy Marin XC bar, tyres and soon wheels. Now it's all in the garage in a box - and all in good nick, so I though I may buy a Hardtail frame and build a little 'do it all' rig. As I have spent so much on the marin + upgrades (it's getting close to œ2.5k) I want to spend as little as poss on frame and forks (and the forks can be rigid.
Any suggestions for Frame and Forks for about 500 smackers?
Never built a bike so this is going to be interesting!!!
Cheers!

I'm liking your style! I fancied a steel frame - was also looking at the charge duster,

QR Drop Offs
DMR Ex[alt]
thats assuming your wheels are QR
but the revelation may be a better option, although it won't leave you with any money for other things
the Marzocchi All Mountains might be worth a look as well

I am a very bad man, buy a sanchez and some revelations or pikes if you have a 20mm convertable wheel.

Always remember to pick your Uni according to the local trails or you'll be stuck with nowhere to ride for three years!0 -
i did exactly what your proposing to do with all my left over odds & sodds (see the Leader in my sig) about 2 weeks ago. the whole bike cost less than œ500 though - The frame was new @ œ55 from the US but with import tax & shipping it came in at about œ90. I used there lowest end frame (didn't have the cash for the nicer one), check them out here = http://www.leaderbikestore.com/cat_mtb_suspension.cfm
