Thompson make some of the strongest stems and seatpost on the market, which are XC light but DH / FR proof
your friend either installed it incorrectly (overtightend the wedge clamp bolts or over-tightened one side) or did something seriously silly to break a Thompson?

Seconded, I swear buy thompson seatposts, on my old bike i went through 4 saddles but never broke a thompson, i was also doing 20ft jumps on the elite x2 stem which is designed for road and xc use.

I have an x4, ridiculously light, just ordered a post from aspire velotech in the states, very cheap. Except no substitute.

4th'd.
I've got a Thomson Elite seatpost and it's awesome - very light and strong. A thomson stem is next on my shopping list. The parts they make are awesome. If only they'd make cranks and handlebars.....0 -
They really should make some cranks/bars. I'd certainly be in the market.

Oh well, slightly deviating on my original post but ended up ordering a Chris Bling headset (again - red!!) from Aspire Velotech for 66 sheets, and free shipping - not bad eh - brilliant site, good exchange rate at the mo - we really get shafted in this country I think the average price for CK is about œ100 (plus shipping if ordered online)[:D]

How long on average has aspire velotech taken for people, i'm still waiting for my stem, that was posted on thursday 24th.

I emailed them to ask how long and they seem to think that I should have it within 2 working weeks - which is about average I guess from the states - could be wrong. So your stem should be well on it's way by now I would imagine! [:)]

6 days. Though I did get a free upgrade to expedited shipping, possibly because I spent the best part of $300. Who knows? [:)]
