Every now and again the gears just slip, I cant predict when or why and when I look back, its engaged again.
Changed the cassette, chain and 2 of the chain rings a few weeks ago so it cant be those skipping.
New freehub was fitted about 8 or 9 months ago.
Ideas?

Any problems shifting? Slow shifts or rubbing on a different cog? Does it happen in any specific gear, or all of them?0
-
No, shifts smooth as 99% of the drivetrain is new.
Cant really say if it happens in a particular gear although I have an incling it happens when I'm on the granny ring (maybe).

Does it mostly happen when you're pushing hard or when you're pedalling easily, or both?0

That was my thought, the downside being the cones on the hubs, I hate them with a passion [V]

Both, when I push off it goes sometimes and also when I'm pushing hard up a climb. But then again I've been standing up hard on some climbs lately and its been fine.
I'm thinking one of the engagement thingies in the freehub is shagged.

doublecheck your rear derailleur alignment first, much easier to sort out than changing the freehub.

Does sound like freehub unfortunately. Had it just been on light pedalling, I was thinking maybe a stiff link. but that's nigh on impossible if it's when you're pushing hard.0
-
Its a proper slip, almost half a revolution or until I hit the frame.

Freehub then I'm afraid.0

I'll get the shop to fit it this time, I cant be fagged with the hubs again.
Are hopes etc fitted with sealed bearings? and do you need to remove them to get at freehubs etc? ie are they easier to maintain?

Hopes are fitted with sealed bearings. They have a couple in the freehub, and to remove the freehub, you pull it off the axle, bearings and all, as there is only an o-ring and the friction of the bearings keeping it in place. It has springs and pawls which go into a toothed ring in the main body of the hub, these are pretty much the only difficult bit in the service, as you have to get all 3 pawls in at the same time, compressing the springs, then slide it into the hub. Tricky. Much less work than C&C though.0

Funny, when mine came off i had no trouble putting it back on again.
