return to place of purchase, or take it into lbs to get it checked.

i'd take it back. although 90% sure what it is.
Don't want to go voiding warranty. so if you bought it from lbs or somewhere local. otherwise take the top off of the leg that makes the noise, lift the spring up, move the plastic covering until its in the centre, then replace and ride.

Something round here tastes bad. Could be plain old bad taste.

Well how confident are you playing with fork internals?
If you are very i'd try what rubber suggested, otherwise lbs it.
If you aren't confident then you shouldn't really have bought online.
