i seem to be getting alot of chain slap when going over bumps on my 2006 kona dawg with deore threw out. any ideas on how to stop or reduce this

Funnily enough I got this when test riding a dawg. Make sure the chain's not too long, if it's not then the only problem will be scratches to the dropout, so just buy / make a fabric thing to velcro round it to protect it.

I wrapped an old innertube around my chainstay, and ziptied it in place, it seems to be doing the trick, and it cost absolutely nothing to make [:)]

Presumably you bought both the inner tube and the zip ties at some point, or they cost someone something at some point... [;)]
When you knacker everything change to SRAM because they are sprung differently so don't so it as much. Also the 08 Shimano kit is supposed to have a solution in the form of a much stronger spring.

What frame? if you go to 2pure the importers, they make weird shaped ones, flog your mbuk one on ebay, as rare and special, some chump will buy it.

lol, i pikied the tube off a mate because he was about to chuck it out, and the zipties were my dad's...
so as i said, it didn't cost me anything
