Hmm. Bearing in mind most of my gaming is console based, and there's no way I'm paying a million pounds for a PS3, it seemds like a fair deal

No HD yet, but I do plan on upgrading when HDDVD / BluRay becomes a bit more prevelant

Unless you already have a decent TV - I wouldn't really bother, may as well put that towards a decent GPU for a computer - and with the games that are ini preview for coming out - they look alot better than what is lined up for the consoles. The only game I was slightly enthused by was PGR3 for xbox 360. Since I got my 8800gts I have played around with some of the DirectX 10 demos and I can say that I have been VERY impressed. The PC has Crysis, Alan Wake, Unreal Tournament 2007, Hellgate:London and Age of Conan, all of which look utterly amazing. That's my opinion on the matter.

I take your point about the PC, but a) I don't like PC gaming (for a variety of reasons, basically personal taste) as a result of which b) my PC is stone age and would take a LOT more than just a new graphics card to make any good. So PC gaming is out of the equation. I have a decent widescreen CRT TV, which is a lot better than some I've seen.

Sure, but œ200 to for example my PC would give you so little. It still works and all, but it's nowhere near gaming level. Plus 360 has a hell of a lot going for it: Alan Wake, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Forza 2, Guitar Hero 3, GTA 4, Burnout 5, Colin McRae: Dirt, the sequel to Rainbow Six: Vegas, Fable 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction etc etc. MMM.
