Got a 4 in 1 mini pump from wiggle a few weeks ago. everytime i try to use it the damn thing craps up and will not blow air into the tube.
i've resorted to carrying my kids old school zefal pump as at least it works.
the mini pump is YPK Nitro. a fellow MTB'er has suggested changing the internals around to see if it is a schrader / presta problem (using specialized tubes with presta valves)
any suggestions before I float test it in Wast water?
NOTE TO FORUM VIGILATORS
trying to type wast water as it should be, i.e. without a space, comes out as wastrain spotterer ? why>>?[:p]

Getting changed is the hardest part about getting out on the bike - after that...

Presta tubes can be awkward at the best of times, I usualy find only unscrewing them part way can help sometimes, its more likely the technique than the pump.
If possible use schraeder valves, if not then just experiment with puting the pump on the tube and see what works.
Edit: Tw<s></s>at comes out as train spotter because of the forum swear filter.
havent fallen off,
im just having a rest

Is there any diffrence in external diameter between the two? maybe it's a dumbo question, but will scrader valve tubes fit through the holes in my wheels?[:I]

And file the holes to make smooth or you'll get through several tubes a ride if unlucky

If all else fails, buy a specialized windpipe, good value, well built, has an automatic head for presta/schraeder and it has some small puncture repair stickers in the handle

if the windpipe is the same as my specialized pump, then you need to swap around the internal bit just where the valve attaches to
but yeah, tis a brilliant pump

Topeak mountain morph is supposedly the best mini pump, like a collapsible track pump, cannot remember what it does with valves though.

I've just bought a track pump which has both presta and schrader connectors one above the other. is there a mini-pump with the same fitting?
