Bike shops, bike trade in service

hi,
Im currently trying to sell my bike,
i was wondering, do bike shops ever buy in second hand bikes?
i know that the lbs does not and is the the case everywhere else?

    Some do, but you'll get more money for your bike selling it privately such as on eBay. If you're looking for a quick sale you could try trading in your bike but prepare to take a shafting because the bikeshop will be trying to make a decent markup for themselves on your bike.

    yeh most decent and big bike shops do buy second hand bikes. leisurelakes bikes do and so does noahs ark bike store.

    anyone know where you would start in trying to come up with a fair price for a second hand mountain bike?
