More RAM? where to buy cheap.

Ok, looking to upgrade the ram in my Dell inspiron 640m, at the minute its 1GB, im looking at getting 2GB (œ50 from crucial.com) or 4GB if i can get it cheap enough. Does anyone know any decent sellers of a decent quality ram on ebay or such like?

Cheap RAM is a false economy.

Crucial is the good stuff. Avoid PNY or value ranges.

Don't know about your mobo, but... How much RAM can it support?

Thats what I was thinking, also isn't there a point where you have so much RAM, that if you have anymore the extra is basically redundant.
eg. your motherboard may allow RAM effective up to 2GB, anymore than that and it doesn't have any affect to your system at all..

Is your processor good enough to make 4GB useful? If it isnt too good, it will just be a bottleneck

yep im thinking 2GB will be adequate for the minute, and i can order it straight from crucial for œ60 including postage.

Amount of RAM wont cause a processor bottleneck - Windows XP/Vista 32bit cannot Address more than 4GB so it messes up and sometimes will not address more than 2.7gb so you want to stick with <3GB.

More RAM? where to buy cheap.
