n00b questions about chainrings

hi,
i know next to nothing about bikes, so go easy on me, k? i may use the wrong names for things...
i have a gt aggressor 2.0 that i bought 2nd hand. i think most of the parts are original. i just noticed today that four of the teeth on the biggest chainring are extremely badly worn (two groups of two). are they supposed to be like that? they line up with the crank and are 180 degrees from each other so i'm wondering if this was done to make it easier to change gear?
here's a pic. you can see two of the worn teeth at the top, the other two are at the bottom and not visible:

it says it's an "SR Suntour CR210 PFF" if that helps.
cheers!
jules.

They're what is technically known as "knackered."
New chainring would be good [:)]

How odd.
Especially given that Shimano, RaceFace, Middleburn et al do no such thing?

ah cool. thanx for the quick reply. it did seem weird that they had worn so badly when none of the others had.0

Nonsense, all the manufacturers do, my brand new middleburn SSHC rings have i think four sets of three worn teeth the shortest of which is a half tooth and they all are different.
