Just wanna share my appreciation to the legend that is lance armstrong. After being dosed with cancer he still managed to win the tour de france 7 times in a row. Truely extrodinary!
He's not a mountain biker but who gives a toss, he's a hero and so let us know what you think...

Landis interesting? Pathetic more like it? He cant even take drugs properly, he was the lamest bike rider ever. He had no passion like th e pantanis and pettachis out there. SImoni however! World class grand tour rider who still finds time to win italian marathon champs....0 -
Sorry, but there's no way that Landis is guilty of the drug charges.
a) There's no way that his <s>pharmacist</s> team manager would allow something so stupidly overt and detectable.
b) Having watched him, at the Morzine stage, fly past us hauling ass like a man posessed, fecking miles ahead of the closest follower, no amount of testosterone could do that. None. The man's a machine and he deserved the win and the glory. He didn't deserve any of this crap.
Landis Won. That's enough.

Ha ha typical outsiders point of view. Everyone uses the stuff. You use the gel to help aid you after or you whack some patches on your bawbag. Landis just old mans stamp collectioned up big style but letting a tiny little thing be caught.
Point two. He bonked so bad before. Really really bad. Then went on to make such a comeback?Your right testostrone doesnt make you do that but some clean blood or maybe some fancy corr blimey we dont know about certianly does.
Even before all this buisnees he was lame as fu<u></u>ck.
The sad thing is since cyclings so screwed up at the moment he shall never be proven guilt or not guilty. The uncertaintly shall hang there . He should do a basso or a miller then since hes allready banned he should take a shot of the 'be a bit more cooler' drug.0 -
Wait... 'Clean blood'?
Explain!

Whats the point in blood doping when you can jsut to high altitude training, admitedly you have to fly somewhere usualy to do it but it is "legal" in sports isn't it?

Yeah, it is legal. You can't ban people from doing sporting events because of where they live. It does seem like a bit of an un-fair advantage though, but having said that, if you're a professional athlete then the resources needed for high-altitude training is feasible.

yes alex, I was there on that final hill in morzine, testosterone only helps you train harder and produce more muscle, it cannot help on the day. We all commented that day ' he must be on something after yesterdys disaster' but it wasn't what they claim. <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by Alex</i>

Means you can do your alituted training when it suits eg winter. Then they can take the blood out of you when it wont affect you (more of the winter) then you feeling a bit tired in a race.Voila they whack some blood full of those lovely little red blood cells that take that lovely o2 to your muscles and you can go ffffffffffffaast! Its reallly really hard to detect becuse its your own blood going back into you.0 -
anyway back to the topic I believe was about lance armstrong. After all he went through I doubt he would take drugs. Scientists said they had never met anyone who could absorb so much oxygen into their blood as lance. He was a great climber, time trialist and sprinter, but everyone knows you don't contest sprints when you are after the overal win, its not fair on the sprinters. He was great and should not be knocked for what he achieved. However he is not the best ever, because he did not do all the grand tours and classics, he concentrated on the tour because thats how he made his money. If we are talking about the best, then it has to be eddie merckx, the cannibal. He won everything and contested all the races.0

Lance who? Never heard of him. Was he a mountainbiker?
Believe he used to ride with a Crow. He just runs marathons now.

And your point is...
Just because his last win was three years ago doesn't make him any less of a hero. John Lennon died 27 years ago but he's still a hero and the best songwriter ever.
Oops! I've probably started an argument about Lennon now.0 -
I think lance was an awesome rider to win a world championship at 21 shows you have to be a bit special.
As good as he was i can't help feeling that a lot of his sucesswas due to
a) his teams ability to buy up certain competition, Roberto Heras.
b) the fact that he was sponsored by an american team who was focused purely on the tour this allowed lance to prepare for one superhuman effort without having to suffer in the cold and mud of the spring classics and without having to lead an attempt on the giro.
That said he was a true proffesional he knew what he as getting paid for and he did it in a wy which devistated the competition and was a great rider to watch. Sure he wasn't as good as Merckx but in all honesty is anyone going to be hat good again.0 -
I was a eoadie still am kinda but in mountain bikeing its so much better i have never heard of drug abuse.

Lance Armstrong is a legend.
The guy has a resting heart rate of between 32-34 bpm, and can push it to 201. Thats impressive even if you hate roadies!
Instigation, Information, Inspiration

I own his book. I know, even if he is a roadie he happens to be one of my favourite riders. Anyway, when every I'm feeling sorry for my self for some reason i read a section of his book.
In one week he finds he has cancer, has to have a testicle removed, finds its in his lungs, finds he has no health insurance, then finds its in his brain.
The guys been through a hell of alot and came back fighting. He also explains all the drugs stuff, and as one would expect, there are reasonble answer to everything and he was never found with drugs in his blood or urine.
But people will never be satisfied, least we forget that; George Bush masterminded 9/11, no one landed on the moon and the Queen is actually a shape-shifting lizard. Please.
Lance Armstrong = an amazing inspiration.

Although winning the Tour de France so many times is a huge achievement in itself, it is his work raising awareness about cancer that really makes Armstrong a legend.
