I got them for the same reason. They are very good but add weight. In fact all of my mates ended up getting them as we had to stop every 15 mins to fix punctures. Now on one gets them.0

I had slime fitted to all my bikes as a kid, same with our wheel barrow and everything. Although lately ive been doing ok without.
- Tryed the stips about a year ago, but found they didnt make much diffrence, possably because they where wide enought for 2.2 tyres. (largest i found was like 1.8-2.0 or somthing)
But if your having trouble, the extra weight isnt that much, and its rair that you notice problems with the slime being un-evenly distobuted.

Thay dont add that much weight...

I use slimes, but not on my racing mtb. They are really good, and are only double the weight of a normal tube, so thats only like 200grams???? well worth it, and helps with momentum in the tyres along flats. It adds resistance to getting punctures and seals them if u get them...realy good imho.

I'd never use slime
Even though the slime itself is pretty light compared to the weight of the bike, the fact that it's on a rotating part of the bike give it an effective mass hundreds of time more than the weight of the slime you put in.
I'd do the maths, but don't have my calculator that does radians on me at the moment.

It's the same theory, and you don't have the numbers to throw at the calculator, anwyay.
I'd not use slime, either. The weight notwithstanding, it doesn't work terribly well and means you can't let your tyres down (to change them, for example)

Not quite true BRS. I've had plenty tyre changes whilst running slime tubes.
They are a right pain in the arse if they blow out though. I had it whilst racing in HONC and managed to get slime everywhere. Horrible stuff but works wonders

Slime has been working fine for me. I've only put 100cc in each tube, that's about 100grs I guess, and despite this quantity being less than recomended it's still enough to seal punctures. The places where I ride have lots of spiky bushes and before using slime I used to get flats all the time, but that's never happened after using slime. Just the other day I was getting home after riding and noticed I had a 2mm thick thorn sticking out on my rear tyre. I pulled it out and air started to come out through the hole just like it would if I wasn't using slime. However, after rotating the wheel one full turn it sealed instantly, leaving a small green dot where the hole was.
Slime allows you to have lighter tubes and tyres and this way you may keep your wheels lightweight without worrying about getting flat tyres.0 -
I've been running slime for 2 years without a puncture now. The only trouble I had was when I tried to let down the tyre a little bit and some Slime actually held the valve open very slightly. Giving the affect of a slow puncture.
That was easily cured by removing the valve and wiping it (a 20sec job). All I would say is that if you ever have to let the tyre down, then completely remove the valve and check it. It just saves any hassle.
Other than that, Slime is great.

Course you can let it down, just put the valve at the top and all the slime goes to the bottom of the tube. So then none of the slime comes out...

i used slime once and it sucked. Didn't fix the puncture at all then i left it for a week or so and it was still not fixed. I say just don't ride throught thorns and carry a puncture kitSTUFF \'N\' THAT0
