Hi Guys I did a search for info on specialized warranties when purchased 2nd hand but, couldnt find anything. Basically I want to know if or what you are covered by once you have passed a bike on. As I am thinking of buying a spesh rig 2nd hand.

Cheers,
RiZz

Lol cheers nice and simple answer. What even about new frame import i guess no warranty either. Also I know that spesh switch and change their warranties eg.

2001 Specialized Allu frames, limited lifetime warranty.
2002 Specialized Allu frames, 5 years limited warranty.
2003 Specialized Allu frames, limited lifetime warranty.
2004 Specialized Allu frames, 5 years limited warranty.

I bought my FSR XC Pro second hand from Leisure Lakes and they sold it to me with a lifetime warranty. I went to Afan last yr, cracked a weld and now have a brand new frame

Thanks for the info but, I am buying private so wont get the benefits of an official dealer. Due to the bike being a 2005 demo 8 I am worried about it cracking. Also as specialized dont stock here in the uk even if it did have a warranty, I am not sure what they would do as what would they even replace it with. As they cant say here ya go have a lower spec bike instead eg. big hit. Also would my lbs maybe sort some cover out for me possibly?

Also moving on from that, whats the warrenty like on a new spesh?
    - Ive just got a rockhopper, so i guess it sort of relevent! Do i basicaly get new bits it if something breaks or what?
    - Obvously a fractured frame is going to be covered, but what about a nackered crank/bb or somthing?

Specialized wont warrantee a second hand frame. Individual shops may provide cover independently, though.

In general, you don't get much of a warranty on self-imports. For example, as far as SBCUK are concerned, you bought it through SBCUS and it's their department. As far as SBCUS are concerned, you're in the UK. Legally, your warranty is with SBCUS, but only while you're in the states.

As above for replacements. If they've stocked it, they'll generally stock spares (seatstays, chainstays etc.) in the warranty department. But whether you can get hold of one yourself without a warranty is dependent on stocks and demand.

If something under warranty dies, you get a new one free of charge (but the labour to fit it isn't generally). There are a few bits that are subject to 'fair wear', like chains, cassettes, brake pads etc., though, and for most of these you'll be returning the bike to the shop for them to get SBC's word on whether they're going to warranty it or not.

The above goes for pretty much all manufacturers. Someone does/did do a warranty that you can pass on to second owners, but I can't remember who.

As long as you have the original reciept and some no how you can get a replacement frame..anything before 05 has a lifetime warranty anything after has 5 years from date of purchase..

Officialy the warranty is non- transferrable...but if you use your brain it most definately is
