I ve looked at the ridgeback mx4- http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=71043
Is it any good or can you get better bikes for the money?
Cheers

I've got a Specialized Hardrock (œ299) and it is very good for the money. I said for the money but I had a go on my mate's Trek 8500 and over most stuff the Hardrock held it's own, the much better fork on the 8500 made a difference though.
I have put new stuff on it (rear mech, rings, tyres and a lot more that I won't bore you with) and one thing that you should replace is the bottom bracket which is pants.crazy about bikes0 -

Iv'e got a spesh hardrock, it's a nice little machine, changed it a bit hydraulic brakes etc. but you can now get a hyd disc version of the hardrock for œ400 off Evans. Forks will definiteley need replacing after about a year though, mine were almost rigid, lol.
