am i being an idiot because there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to import bikes or do you just ask a bike shop ie www.stenger-bike.de to send the bike to where you live?
any replies would be nice as i really want to have a demo 7 now, despite getting a Norco Shore 1 so i might sell it.

send them an email or phone them, there won't be import duties just hefty postage0

The Iron Horse Sunday Elite is the most overpriced bike I've ever looked at.

If you're importing from the US you have a few things to think about.
1. VAT - you will have to pay 17.5% on top of the purchase price and postage cost combined.
2. Duty - Import duty will have to be paid at a rate of around 14%, this is calculated on the total cost of the purchanse price, postage and VAT.
3. Postage itself - not cheap if you want the bike insured etc.
I will say though, that with a little shopping around you can still save aorund 100GBP on a 800GBP bike.
BTW, when importing always phone customs before hand and get a price of the import duty for confirmation, the 14% duty is at the moment, I'm not sure how long for, so please check first and you won't get a nasty shock.0 -
if they send via the up postal service theres usually œ8 charge from parcel force as well (no matter how big or small the item)
