That's got a soupcon of Art Deco inspiration to me.

That was my comparison - not classic stuff, but the combination of rounded corners and square windows, and good sense of proportions are redolent of that era.

If you're ever near Stoke Bishop in Bristol, this house is still there. I remember it vividly from my yoof, having walked past it many times - it's quite eye catching, surrounded by much more boring suburban housing.

My niece is doing her Masters in English Lit covering Gothic literature and for some reason my sister can't really explain she is doing a big presentation to a load of architectural students (think it's an open event). I think must be something overlapping into Gothic architecture. Will need to find out more - think it's this week or the week after.
