I ha e had this frame a while and for the life of me can't see how a seat secures. Thers no split in the seat tube for a clamp or a binder bolt. So what exactly am I supposed to do.

could the purple cone be some sort of screw? By tightening it you press on the seatpost and secure it? Does it move?

It sounds similar to the way a quill is secured. There's a bolt underneath the saddle (top of seatpost) that pulls a wedge up to secure it.
