SRAM Rival/Red crank query

Hi everyone,

Apologies for what is probably a noob question but i'm not mechanically minded at all so bare with me...

I've just bought a new bike after 10 years on my previous and it's a huge purchase for myself, it's the model i've wanted for a few years but there's a few things i'd like to change.

It's got Sram Rival AXS with a Quarq powermeter, but i'd love to swap the crankset for Red.

Is there a way of fitting the current Rival powermeter cranks to the Red chainrings, or will i need to swap the entire crankset like for like?

Below is what's on it and below that what i'd prefer to fit.

Thanks!

The Rival 2x cranks have the spider built in, so you would need to change the driveside crank arm to Red, Force or Rival 1x which have the 8 bolt pattern. The Rival power meter is built into the spindle which is part of the non-driveside crank arm, so you could retain this with a new driveside crank arm.

I'm not really sure what you'll gain here though. It will be a bit lighter, but not much if you're retaining the Rival PM. If it's for looks, Force D2 has the 1 piece chainrings at a much lower price than Red.

Shameless advertising: If you want bare Force cranks without chainrings, I have some sitting spare...

  • Yeah it's purely aesthetic, any weight saving is just a bonus.

That's really helpful, thank you for taking the time!
