Thursday - Hysterical hippopotami hollering a heinous hullabaloo
Morning
Brr and double brr.
If the sun lifts the frost, I may pedal outdoors.
First: coffee...

Still on hols until next week so enjoying a slow start. Quick trip into town for a couple of things and go for a ride while it's not raining or freezing. Hounds will also need an outing at some point.

Morning
Hovering around freezing but with a brisk Northely wind so a bit chilly. Riding outside round here would be a bit risky unless you stick to main roads. So I will be doing something indoors.

Hard frost here as well and sun , waking day i think.

-5 this morning so the truck to an age to defrost. I really should have arranged a WFH day today but I'm the only one in so couldn't.
Not sure if I'm shivering or shaking from alcohol withdrawl today.

Morning all. Usual return to work issues so a little busy to start with. Certainly chilly and car took ages to defrost as it rained last night then froze. Soon be home time and a long wkend off. Need to run and bike some lard off pretty sharpish and get fitness up again. Enjoy your day folks

Afternoon folks,
Must confess the return to work has been a bit of a shock even though I'm slacking from home today. Surely I should be having a nap by now so as to ease myself into things slowly. At least its POETS day tomorrow.
Cold out, but bright as mentioned, prefer that to the ceaseless gloom over the last few weeks though.
Not much else going on, was browsing the web and saw a Pinarello frame on Fleabay, think it might be worth a punt, but will I be considered a weirdo?

Why? Perfectly good classic Pinarello. Link please

Why? What's your username? 😝
Unfortunately I think it's too small, old bikes tend to have short top tubes.

Based on this forum, very probably 😀

Yes, and long stems.
seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Exactly, already have a very long stem on the Chesini and that is 58cm ctc on the top tube. Doubt that will be any more.

I asked 'Peter'. It is indeed58cm c to c.
seanoconn - gruagach craic!1 -
Must be to do with the geometry, I've not given it enough thought. Chesini top tube is longer than the Kinesis and it has a 140mm stem, yet it feels shorter. Presumably due to angles of things.
So given that Pinarello is a slightly more modern steel bike, will it feel longer? I'd read the Gavia has a seat tube that's angled back more.

I've tried to Google Gavia Geometry. Does the Gavia qualify? I thought it was a mid 90's frameset?
seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Yes, as long as it's steel and has period components. So a brand new steel frame with 7 speed downtube friction shifters, brake cables outside the bar tape and pedals with toeclips would be permissible. The only aluminium frames allowed are things like Alans that were used pre-87, although I thought it was 84, maybe they changed it.

I presume you get away with those Vitus aluminium frames that Sean Kelly used to ride. However like Alan’s they were glued so I’d be surprised if that many have survived and would you risk riding a 50 year old glued frame down those non roads. My Alan cross frame sheared on the fork column, they used to glue a steel sleeve to the aluminium forks so you had a thread for the headset.

Yes, that kind of thing. I know a few people with those Vituses, or should that be Vitii?

58cm Gavia Geometry:
Top tube: 56cm
Set back 16.5
Seat angle 73 deg
Head angle 73 deg
Fork rake 5.2
Front centre 59.9

I would say it would be perfect for a 5'10" rider?

That seems about right, I’d better lop my ankles off then
