35mm and 37mm

I’ve ended up being in possession of 2 new tyres cx/gravel tyres - mostly for compact/dry conditions. One is a 37mm and one a 35mm. Any advice which size for the front and which the rear?

Smaller one on the front, because there's normally more weight on the back wheel.

  • Thanks, thought as much. But relatively late to the gravel party and wanted to check. Thanks for replying.

Agreed - the only reason I can see for putting a larger tyre on the front would be on a more old school roadie, where clearance at the back is uber tight, but there is more space up front - then you benefit from a bit more comfort I guess.

If your using a gravel bike for off road touring then big tyre on the back. If getting rowdy on gravel then big on front with lower pressure for comfort and grip. Unless lucky enough to have suspension. Personally I run 45s front and back.
