Stuck seat post.
Hello
i have been servicing and replacing parts on my bike, then I came to greasing my seat post, but it seemed to be stuck, I am managing to get it out my twisting the seat up, I’m guessing I never used enough grease in the first place, or maybe should have used more as the post enters the frame, my question is will it best to use a new post ( it is a good 10 years old)
Thanks

Usually a stuck sp involves some form of corrision. It depends what state it is in once removed but personally as it's 10 years old I'd treat myself to a new one. Oh, and don't forget to give the inside of the seat tube a good clean too!

Material? If steel or alloy simply smooth off any rough high spots and re-use. Thoroughly clean the seat tube too.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Clean it, and the seat tube, check for splits/cracks etc, refit using the appropriate lube/compound.
Remove, clean, check, refit every year (minimum).

Depends on frame material and seatpost material.
