Removing wheel from Boardman MTR 8.6 (QLOC)

Trying to take the wheel off my lads MTR and I'm very confused. I've followed the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0hExa1dSIs which looks simple enough. This looks exactly like my lads bike from this angle...

Except I don't think it's actually possible to pull the axel through because the suspension hole is only big enough for the small thin axel, not the thicker pipe which is the actual axel. Hopefully the pictures explain it well enough!

The black circle seems to be part of the suspension, I've given it a good pull with some grips and it isn't for budging.

Am I missing something, doing something stupid?? Just want to get the bloody tube out!

    Cracked it!

So chatting to my local bike store and showed him the above pictures, he said that it is likely rusted and if I give it a wack from the other side it might come loose.

So managed to get a decent think metal poll through the axel and then gave it a good number of wacks with the hammer. In the end it came apart as expected.

WD40 and a hammer to the rescue as usual.

For anyone who stumbles on this some time in the future, where it should come apart is where I've highlighted below.
