Wheelset change from 12mm Bolt to QR

My Maddux RD30 freehub has a wobble and from what I understand the freehub isn’t repairable/ replaceable.

The wheelset is on a Cannondale Synapse , it’s a disc brake with quick release.

Im wondering if I can fit a 12mm bolt through disc wheelset with a QR adapter ?

  • The freehub is replaceable, it will be a hex key to get it off .Best bet for that type of adaptor is something mavic ,they have a good range of easily got adaptors ,Is the front wheel a thru axle ? I have a 2nd hand set of Aksiums with qr rear and thru axle front if you're looking for a replacement they came off a synapse i think

    Thanks Trevor.

I’ll have a look and see if it comes off initially.

Undo the non drive side bolts youll need a cone spanner and remove the bolts and cone from the axle

Pull out the axle from the drive side and remove bbs from both sides of the hub

Normally a 14mm hex from the nondrive side to remove the freehub

Make sure you have some fresh grease to put the bbs back in to freshen it up inside when you rebuild it

  • If its sealed cartridge bearings same deal but you need to remove the non drive side one to get the hex key in
